U.S. civil-military relations have undergone notable shifts in recent years, with growing attention being paid to the relationships between the military, civil leaders, and the American public. Join the Batten School for a discussion moderated by the Hon. Melissa Dalton focusing on these shifting dynamics and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Experts from U.S. government, military, and academia will examine the constitutional foundations and civic ties that define U.S. civil-military relations and its impact on society. Panelists include Hon. Kathleen Hicks, 35th U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense; Dr. Kori Schake, senior fellow and Director of Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute; and Gen. Joseph Votel, retired U.S. Army Four-Star General and former Commander of U.S. Central Command.
