Join us from September 14-18 for UVA’s 2026 Intelligence & Security Careers Week! The UVA Career Center, the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, and the National Security Policy Center are all hosting student events to provide foundational knowledge on national security careers, lend practical advice on staying competitive in the field, and connect students to experienced practitioners. Monday, September 14

Overview of the Intelligence Community

5:30-6:30pm, Great Hall in Garrett Hall

Interested in intelligence and security careers? Attend this session to discover the variety of agencies that exist and learn more about the types of careers that exist within this secretive industry! This event is open to students of ALL years and majors – many intelligence agencies look to recruit 1st and 2nd years for internships, and 3rd and 4th years for full-time opportunities.

Pizza will be provided!

 

Tuesday, September 15

Navigating the Security Clearance Process

6:00-7:00pm; Great Hall in Garrett Hall

Are you applying to a position that requires a security clearance? Attend this session to learn what experiences and behaviors to avoid so that you move through the process smoothly! This session will also give you the opportunity to talk-through the different steps needed for your clearance and what to expect in that process (ex. forms, polygraph test, interview, etc.).

 

Wednesday, September 16

Resume Workshop with Agency Representative

12:30-1:30pm; Clemons Library 202/203

Join us for a discussion about the nuances of applications for many intelligence and federal opportunities. This session will be an overview of the federal resume and the intelligence application process.

Intelligence Week 2026 Resume & Career Drop-Ins

1:30-4:30pm; Clemons Library 2nd floor – Career Corner

Schedule a 15 minute meeting with a career counselor to review your resume or discuss your career curiosities.

A Career Supporting the IC: A Contractor Perspective

4:30-5:30pm; Clemons Library 202/203

Want to learn about different ways you can work with the Intelligence Community as a contractor? Join us for a conversation with a UVA alum as he discusses his own career journey and tips to working in this field.

 

Thursday, September 17

Crisis Simulation run by the UVA National Security Policy Center

11am-1pm; Great Hall in Garrett Hall

Students will participate in a tabletop exercise led by the National Security Policy Center.

Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Central Intelligence Agency Information Session

5:30-6:30pm; Great Hall in Garrett Hall

Come learn about the Agency and the different opportunities available for internships and for full-time work.

 

Friday, September 18

Employer Resume Reviews

10-11:30am; Alumni Room, Bryant Hall in Scott Stadium

Join us in person to have your resume reviewed by employers and alums in the intelligence and security fields. Each session will be approximately 10-15 minutes. If you have never had your resume reviewed or plan to start submitting applications for internships or jobs, this is a great opportunity to get helpful, constructive feedback from people that review resumes every day in a safe environment! Please be sure to have a copy of your resume available.

Intelligence & Security Careers Fair

12-3pm; Bryant Hall in Scott Stadium

The Intelligence & Security Career Day gives UVA students the opportunity to connect with employers and professionals working across intelligence, national security, cybersecurity, consulting, government, and related fields. Students from all majors and class years are encouraged to attend.
